Look Ahead to 2010

What is Male eXperience

My quote at the head of the blog is from the great erotic writer, Anais Nin:

I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.

I think that eventually we only get to see what it is to be a man through the eyes of a woman, I certainly found that to be true in my own life. It is the experience of living with a woman in polarity and power that is the true male eXperience.

I say elsewhere on this site:

Many of the men that women look to for strength, guidance and certainty have lost any sense of themselves and their role. They have become weak and allowed their presence to slip away from them, they have lost any sense of their place.

This leaves women high and dry, without polarity, without any rock to hang on to in their whirlwind life as a woman. Men need to find their sense of their own self and they need to be clear on what their role is, where their certainty lies.

For the past few years I have been following a sacred journey of self-discovery, of finding the light and truth within myself. In this process I have become completely at one with myself and certain in my knowledge of who I am. This process has helped me see the people around me in a different way and particularly the men.

I have come to see the extent to which I inspire people with the way I live as a man and the approach I take to life. In recognising this I realised how important it is to spread that inspiration as widely as possible. We all have a duty to do all we can to better the world we live in and to improve the lives of others. I see my life as a small contribution to this. I developed this site as way of achieving this end through the potential of reaching a far wider audience that I could ever meet personally.

Where has Male eXperience got to in 2009?

Male eXperience was set up during the course of 2009. During the middle six months of the year a lot of time was spent developing ideas for the site and formulating the design. As other bloggers out there will understand it took some time to develop my understanding of what I want to do with the site. Initially I just used it to post the odd article on random thoughts on masculinity. I experimented with using Adsense thinking this might generate some income. Of course it didn’t because you need some backbone before people take it seriously.

I experimented with design ideas, trying to find a way of using Wordpress that looked professional and serious. Being a designer I was very determined in what I wanted it to look like and kept working on it until I started to find what I wanted. I found Headway and the ability to have control over a theme without too much coding work. As it was I needed to learn some html and php to move beyond the standard look. I spent a lot of time looking into technicalities of connecting up all the dots with seo issues and other ways of promotion.

So at the end of 2009 I feel confident that I have a product that I can now focus on and develop. My score card is:

  • Design – Planned and implemented.
  • Content – Not nearly enough but the direction and nature of it worked out.
  • Marketing – The approach is detailed, using Twitter and linking to other similar sites, creating a community.
  • Product – Initial thoughts on first eBook.

I have already gained a little attention in my niche and received encouraging signs on my approach.

What are the plans for 2010?

So where am I going to take this and what is the site going to become? My commitment for this year is to develop a community of people who support the idea of developing the idea of being a re-awakened man and who not only want more information on it but are also willing to contribute to it. This is the year when it moves beyond being my personal blog to be a focus for a community. This involves develop a readership of devoted, engaged readers for whom I provide inspiration and information. My primary focus is to do what it takes to develop this.

My approach in the four key areas of blog development will be:

  • Design – Retain the design. It is important to let it settle in giving readers a chance to get used to it.
  • Content – This will be the major area of development with the implementation of major new ideas.
  • Marketing – An area of continuing focus with emphasis on creating links with others in this niche.
  • Product – Development with a view to introduce a free eBook in the early part of the year and some paid product in the latter part of the year, it is important to build the community and then give them something.

The major area of development right now is the content. If there is no content, there is no site! People are interested in the philosophy and aims of the site but if the content is not there to support it, it won’t fly. It is important that content has a pattern and a rhythm to it and is not just a series of random posts. Readers want to know what they expect to see and they need to know that they are going to see it. So to this end I have the following ideas for content development:

  • Kali’s Sword
A monthly series where women talk about what they want and look for in their men.
  • Men on the Internet
A monthly series on what writing there has been on the subject of men around the internet.
  • Role Models & Archetypes
A monthly series on role models in fact and fiction and stories from legends.
  • The Challenge of Masculinity
A monthly series on how to be a man and the Male Characteristics.
  • Weekly Email
Complete the year long email series for list subscribers that I started to develop last year.
  • Free eBook
A free ebook on the re-awakened man for list subscribers.
  • Random Posts
Weekly random posts on personal matters and top ten lists.
  • eBook Product
Plan and develop my first product for sale.
  • The Pink Man
Introduce the Pink Man and develop the idea. This I will talk about at the appropriate time, watch this space!

That will work out at an aim for two posts a week alternating between one of the series with a random post. I hope you keep me to my schedule and kick me if you don’t see it.

What is in the longer term view?

The longer view is to develop the Brand and make it synomous in people’s minds with developing an awareness of the uniqueness of men and their ability to be strong, compassionate and focused. There will be books and courses on how to do it and how to enjoy it. Further than that I don’t know. Right now I am focusing on achieving my current plans.
